This week I finish my conversation with Alan Rogers, Cultural Coordinator as part of the Weymouth and Portland 2012 Operations Team, at Weymouth Pavilion.
creativedialog.wordpress.com

We start by talking about how he balances the difficult decisions of working within a limited budget. We go onto hear what Alan thinks about the long lasting effect of the cultural Olympiad on this area. & I end by picking Alan’s experience about ways artists can build in sustainability in the incredibly precarious career of artists practice.

My latest self initiated project is a 30min radio / podcast show around art, culture & the economy in West Dorset. Recognising the value of artists sharing knowledge and information with their peers, this new radio show will record ‘Creative Conversations’ with local people.

I see it as a conversation around artistic practice and our sense of place; the economic climate; the cultural Olympiad and the Olympic legacy. The aim is to produce 10-12 shows that will go out weekly.

This project takes as a starting point my previous work producing radio shows (sounds of the seaside and school looks around: Dartmoor) and with my working with archives.

The first proper episode is now online at: creativedialog.wordpress.com/2011/10/17/episode-2

it’s gone over my target of 30min so next weeks show will be less.
I feel its a bit rambling and I think needs greater coherence. But what do you think?

Still early days and I’d welcome your feedback.

Also still looking for people, orgainsations, or public sector workers, to step forward and have our conversation recorded, any takers please get in touch.

A hugely popular family beach in Burton Bradstock. It is made up of shingle, surrounded by spectacular sandstone cliffs. Though bathing can be dangerous as the beach shelves steeply and there is a strong undertow.

This is part of Chesil Beach; a striking section of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site which, as the largest shingle ridge in the world, is an internationally unique geological feature.

West Dorset, 2 miles east of Bridport
